[Richter laughs, and calls back sing-song.]

[He jumps down, landing in a light crouch and staying squatted to pick up his knives.]

Besides, my way of keeping your reflexes up is much more fun.

[He walks over and holds out a little charm on a small ribbon. The charm itself is two small bones woven together with bits of wire and ribbon, adored with tiny feathers and a fish scale. There are markings carved into the bone itself. Charter Marks, if Richter had any dealings with them.]

Wear this in your outer coat.

[It's a much more rustic charm than anything he's ever really seen before - it's something he'd almost think was made by a witch back home, bits and pieces held together by power. He can smell it on the thing, almost briney, but he's not familiar with the markings. He didn't pay all too much attention to the magic of the port.

The Charter Marks still work here, and I could approximate the spell. This charm is called Swift Shadow. It makes you faster in the darkness.

[He had no way to verify that, but he's learned enough from Tera that freely given did very different things to magic than forcibly sacrificed, and he's sure he would have heard if Corvo had gone around stealing fingers.]

I hunted vampires in the dark? They literally can't come out during the day, so the fights are always on their terms 'cos you can't find the pricks otherwise.

Oh. Mostly I just ignored it, kept an eye out for anyone getting up to shit. Turns out being able to make your own light never stops being useful.
