Character Name: Richter Belmont
Series: Castlevania: Nocturne (animated series)
Age: 19
From When?: Very end of S1.

Warden Justification: He is a very good and loyal boy, who needs to learn nuance by being thrown headfirst into it before he can help anyone, but will do so with considerable sympathy and a witty attitude.

Item: One of his throwing daggers (it now has the Belmont symbol on it) that points towards his inmate.

Abilities/Powers: Richter Belmont is the epitome of Belmont physical prowess and Speaker magical intensity, and canonically one of the most powerful Belmonts to date. He has the full training and expertise of the Belmont clan drilled into him practically from birth, and nine years of putting it into active practice; he's a vampire killer, first and foremost, but can and will fight pretty much anything else. His physical fighting style leans more towards boxing than brawling, and he uses magic to augment that seamlessly. As a Belmont he's also incredibly durable, shown to survive any number of attacks that would kill a normal human, and has some innate ability to detect unholy evil, which apparently manifests as a smell for Belmonts.

As expected from a Belmont, his signature weapon is the whip Vampire Killer: on any contact with an unholy creature, it causes severe damage (to the point of instantly destroying weak enough demons and vampires in a single strike), and he is perfectly proficient with it. He can also use swords and throwing daggers with similar proficiency; though he'd probably be able to use any other weapon he can get his hands on just as well.

Magically, he has control over fire, ice and electricity. His default flames are blue, and he's been shown to be able to focus and make them hot enough to melt metal, without harming himself. He can also use ice with instinctive speed, preferring to use it as armour pieces or gloves, but like other Speakers can make these people float in midair to use as temporary platforms. Electrokinesis is more difficult and thus less common, but he can still use it with intent and accuracy.

(While the show doesn't address this, since it for an English-speaking audience, it can be safely assumed that Richter also speaks French fluently, as he grew up there for nine years.)

Wardening Strategies and Philosophies: Richter is someone who is very capable of rolling with the punches and changing plans on the fly, but a self-admitted horrible strategist and decision maker; anyone expecting a leader from Richter is going to be sorely disappointed. He's there to look pretty and hit things really really hard. That doesn't mean he's stupid, or incapable of strategy, but his current worldview is extremely limited to survival and murder, with limited education: he can read and write, and do maths, but he'd never encountered a night creature before the first episode of the series, and he didn't know what it was, suggesting that what he was formally taught by his mother was restricted to Belmont family history and weaponry. He'll be good for an inmate with any need to teach things, as he'll be an avid audience.

He understands the idea of redemption, but he's going to struggle to engage with it and understand what that means for his inmate/s for a while, as he gets used to the idea of seeing things in more than shades of black and white. We save innocents, we kill monsters, we look good doing it. He's going to have a difficult time empathising with the more nonhuman members of the Barge, especially the vampires, but he's mature enough that he won't go immediately for any kills. Maybe. There's gonna be a learning curve. He's also balls-deep in the middle of a rebellion in his own world (very specifically the French Revolution, in fact), but not by choice; his adoptive sister is one of the ringleaders of said rebellion in Machecoul, while he himself was a much more passive player, acting mostly as her bodyguard while she and her fellow peasants rise up. While he's very much willing to support anyone who truly believes in their own cause, and even aggressively championing it under their own power, he will draw the line when it boils down to hurting innocent people for it. He's also very anti-monarchist, and will show zero or less respect to anyone with a power-tripping ego.

To the Barge itself he'll be both curious and excited about all the modern amenities, like running hot water, and anyone who's willing to entertain his curious questions and eagerness to help will find a fast and solid friend in Richter. Overall he'll probably be a very good warden for someone who is good with violence, who could use some perspective from both The Youth and an experienced, optimistic warrior, or whoever needs someone that won't be impressed or cowed in the slightest by a pushy ego. On arrival he's going to be a sub-optimal warden for someone non-human, but conversely they might be a really good influence on him, and help him learn to find nuance in the way he deals with people and monsters.

Deal: To return the people who were killed by Sekhmet's following back to life, or else give them dignified afterlives.
